It is time to put an end to the myths. 5 Reasons To Eat Pork

Despite the fact that it contains valuable protein and amino acids, people believe that pork is stodgy and regular consumption can lead to putting on weight. It is time to put an end to the myths and choose healthy products.

Where to start? Pork is not only ribs, bacon and knuckle, but also loin, ham and tenderloin. Just because the pork knuckle consist of valuable fat that people on the diet are afraid of does not mean that they cannot eat a low-calorie loin for dinner. Before we blindly believe in theses of unknown origin, we should check what pork has to offer.

Here are five reasons to eat beef:

1. Nutrition value
Pork is a meat varied in terms of nutritional value. The less caloric part is ham, which contains only 118 kcal per 100 g. On the other side, there is a mouth-watering bacon which contains 322 kcal per 100 g. Popular loin contains 152 kcal per 100 g.

2. Pork fat
Although pork is considered to be fatty, it is not. When we read about ham, loin or tenderloin, we can learn that it contains only 5-10% fat. When it comes to shoulder and Boston butt, it is 20-50%, but does it mean that we should immediately stop eating them?

No. Especially at the times where a lot of people make use of ketogenic diet, in which you loose weight due to consuming of big amounts of fat and avoiding carbohydrates.

It is worth to know that fat can not only be healthy, but also help to loose weight. Pork fats and mainly monosaturated acids, and more precisely oleic acids. That is the same substance of which olive oil is made. Good fats make up 55% of pork fatty acids.

3. Pork as a source of iron
Iron plays an important role in lives of active people. Probably, you were looking for products full of iron a lot of times. Spinach loses here. Pork contains 1.2 – 1.8 mg of iron per 100 g. To give some context, there is only 0.4 mg of this valuable substance in 100 g of chicken meat.

4. Pork = vitamins
Pork is a rich source of protein and amino acids. It contains vitamins such as B6, B12, PP, A and D and iron, which is extremely important in our diet, but we will talk about it later.

5. Price
Pork is not expensive. The PLN cost of some parts is a dozen or so. Considering the amount of valuable substances that it contains, it is not an exorbitant price

Pork is not only tasty, but also healthy. It provides our organisms with minerals, vitamins and protein. It is a crucial element of a diet for people who undertake physical activity and those who want to achieve or maintain a slim figure.
